AAHAM National Office Monthly Update
National News is a monthly publication sent to all National Members by
the AAHAM National office. Our goal with this update is to keep you
aware of everything going on with your National Office. We hope to use
this forum to answer any questions or concerns you may have with the
procedures and happenings of the National Office.
AAHAM Member Survey
Here at AAHAM your opinion matters! We are constantly striving to
improve the benefits of your membership. Please take a few moments to
complete this survey by clicking the link below and completing this
short survey. Your participation is vital to help us determine our
effectiveness and to make sure we are fulfilling your needs.

AAHAM Elections
Be sure not to miss this important opportunity to vote for your
2009/2010 AAHAM National Officers. The voting period begins August 3rd
and ends September 3rd. Voting will be done electronically, to be able
to place your vote you will need your membership number found on your
membership id card.
Instructions and your confidential, personal ballot number will be
mailed to you on July 15th. Remember, voting does not begin till 8/3.

2009 ANI
Mark your calendars! The 2009 Annual National Institute (ANI) will be
held in Scottsdale, AZ from October 14-16, 2009 at the Fairmont
Scottsdale Princess.
It's never too early to make your hotel reservations! The deadline to
reserve your hotel room is September 19, 2009.
The registration brochure and online registration will be available
soon.

AAHAM Website
We've added new features to the AAHAM Website.
The AAHAM Press Room - Keep up to date with everything that is happening
at AAHAM. This can be accessed on the AAHAM home page.
AAHAM's President's Blog - The purpose of the President's blog is to
provide an informal mechanism to share timely news with AAHAM members.
Readers will have an opportunity to post responses to each blog posting.
This can be accessed in the member's only section of the AAHAM website.
Document Manager - This feature allows members to download previous
issues of the journal, applications (including scholarship and chapter
excellence), and position papers. This can be accessed in the member's
only section of the AAHAM website.
We hope that you will find the site useful for all of your networking
and educational needs. New features will continue to be added to the
site.
2009 ANI
Mark your calendars! The 2009 Annual National Institute (ANI) will be
held in Scottsdale, AZ from October 14-16, 2009 at the Fairmont

National Journal Award
The AAHAM Journal Award recognizes excellence in journalism and graphics
design in journals and newsletters of AAHAM chapters published during
the preceding period of July 1-June 30. All chapters in good standing
are eligible for the Awards.
Chapters entering the competitions must submit an application along with
copies of their journal or newsletter to the National Office by July 31,
2009. If you need a copy of the application please contact Moayad at
703-281-4043 x 202 or at moayad@aaham.org.
Chapters that publish only one journal or newsletter issue per year are
not eligible.
Chapter Excellence
The chapter excellence award recognizes AAHAM chapters for their
outstanding achievements during the prior period July 1-June 30th. For
more information or to receive an application please contact Moayad
Zahralddin at 703-281-4043 ext. 202 or at moayad@aaham.org. The deadline
for all submissions is July 31, 2009.
Membership
Currently AAHAM has 2510 members. Thank you all for renewing your
membership for 2009!
Don't forget to check out the member's only section of the AAHAM
website. There is valuable information there to help you both
professionally and personally. To login all you need is your email
address and your membership ID number which is located on your
membership ID card. If you do not have this information, please contact
Moayad Zahralddin at moayad@aaham.org for more information.
PAM WeekThis year Patient Account Management Week (PAM Week) will be
held October 12-18. Products to promote and support PAM Day will be
available this summer. Be sure to check the AAHAM website next month for
more information. It’s never too early to start recognizing your patient
account management staff!

The Spring CPAM/CCAM exam was held the week of April 20-25, 2009. We had
67 AAHAM members sit for the exam and 30 passed and are now

The Fall CPAM/CCAM exams will be held September 21-26, 2009; the
deadline to sign up for that exam is August 3, 2009. You can sign up by
mailing your application and payment directly to the National office, or
use the link on the AAHAM website to register online.
Be sure to take advantage of the great study tools available in the
certification section of the chapter toolkits.
You receive the Professional Exam Study Guide when you sign up for the
Professional exam. You can also order copies of the CD Rom versions of
the webinars we held this summer. These were held to help examinees
prepare for the Professional exam. Each CD Rom represents one section of
the professional exam and there are 4 total. There is also a CPAM
Practice exam available. It is an 80 question practice exam that gives
you a feel for the type of questions that appear on the CPAM exam. You
will receive your percentage score for each of the sections and will be
able to review the questions you miss. If you would like to order any of
these products, there is an order form available on the website http://www.aaham.org/.
We will hold training webinars this summer. Each webinar represents one
section of the Professional exam: Patient Access, Billing, Credit &
Collections and AR Management.
Technical Certification
The next Technical exam period will be held August 10-21, 2009.
We now have a program that allows technical examinees to maintain their
certification with CEUs by joining as a national member of AAHAM rather
than retesting every three years. We have also kept the option of
testing every three years for those that opt not to join AAHAM at the
National level. National Members are required to earn 30 CEUs in the 3
year period and maintain a National Membership in order to keep their
technical certification. We will be prorating the amount of CEUs
required during the first two years of the program. Please see below:

The link that allows you to check your technical CEU status is now up
and running on the AAHAM website. You can find out how many CEUs we have
recorded for you by going to http://www.aaham.org/ and on the left side
in the quick links section you can click on the link titled "Technical
CEU Status". Enter your last name and AAHAM Member ID#, printed on your
membership card. The CEUs you have earned will be displayed.

You can find out how many CEUs we have recorded for you by going to The

"Professional CEU Status" Click on the link and then enter your last
name and AAHAM Member ID#, printed on your membership card.You can also

A new two year CEU reporting cycle began January 1, 2008 and will
